 Song Lyrics

Feeling Flat

Well you’re living life with no regrets
Not
a second wasted tryin’ to forget
But even white lies call for something more
Egocentric and, full of lies
You
never turn your head to say goodbye
At the end of days it leaves you feeling sore

You say you will, but you won’t
No
“I” in team so you don’t
Best defense is walking out the door
No time for this, no time for that
It
always leaves you feeling flat
All the lies they cost you more and more and more

In your life there is nothing new
Filled with open sights but stringent views
The
streets you pave, they all are full of holes
Your self is centered, you sing your song
Your
own mind believes there’s nothing wrong
you don’t want to stay, but you're afraid to go

You say you will, but you won’t
No
“I” in team so you don’t
Best defense is walking out the door
No time for this, no time for that
It always leaves you feeling flat
all the lies they cost you more and more and more

Selfish saint I say goodbye
Wrap yourself into your lies
The circus you call life is just a show

You say you will, but you won’t
No
“I” in team so you don’t
Best defense is walking out the door
Still living life with no regrets
All
this time to cover your defects
All the lies they cost you more and more

Living lies and feeling flat

Song Notes: This was the first collaboration and the original demo dates back to 2004... If not earlier. This song is about the growing number of people it seems that look out for only one person, themselves.  If there's nothing in it for them they don't want anything to do with it. A self-centered person is someone you don’t want to be.

Down On This Street

The street pours out under my feet as I walk along

The air is cold and sweet

Today I turn my head to look around,
for once I can say I've seen

Everything around me now

A million people they walk this same beat

I don’t care if the sky stays black all day

I don’t care if the sun doesn’t show its face

All I need is this air  I can breath as I walk down on this street

As I walk down on this street, its where I think

All this time spent wondering what is really happening

What the hell are we doing here?

I don’t know the answers to the prayers
 of the million dreamers who

Never let the sun shine through

All this while you are questioning

Am I ever good enough?
should I try for something else?

What If I don't succeed?

What do you really need?

I ask myself this as I’m walkin' down this street

I don’t care if the sky stares back at me

I don’t care if the thunders drowns the sounds of my beat

Let it rain all over me

I  got everything I need

Down on this street
Down on this street

Lighting crashes, water splashes
you ship is sinking deep

Too many faces, too many places
the waves are way too steep

Let the clouds come in on this crazy kind of calm
we’re all waiting for the breeze

I don’t care if it rains all day let this flood run free

I don’t care if the sky stays black all day

I don't care if the sun never shows its face

Let the thunder drown the sound of my beat

As I walk down on this street

Its where I can think

Down on this street
Down on this street
Down on this street

Song Notes: This song came towards the end of the writing session and came together rather quickly. The hook was in John's head after he started to take walks shortly after his surgery. Taking in everything around him and the cool autumn air soon got him thinking that he was glad to be alive and able to take a walk when he wanted to. One day the song's lyrics just fell together and Down On This Street was carved out rather quickly.

Time Cures Everything

All the things you don’t notice, that have always been there

Like the people who know you, so many that care

If you look back in time, can you see your life?

Would you make all those changes you say?

Would you take things or leave them the same?

When our spirit is broken

Why do we have to bleed

Tell me, how it all fits together

In This puzzle of what life’s supposed be

Time cures everything

In the end, time cures everything

When the dreams that we need

Are the hardest to believe?

In the end, time will cure

Everything

All the cries that you let go, all the feelings of hate

Do you ask the question "why me?" (why me?)

Now that it’s over can you comprehend?

There are things in this world, we don’t understand.

Maybe it’s all a game

(Maybe it’s all a game)

None of us are given the same hand

(None of us are given the same hand)

Those of us that don’t have a choice

(have no choice)

Deal some how…
the best way we can.

Time cures everything

In the end, time cures everything

When the dreams that we need

Are the hardest to believe?

In the end, time will cure

Everything

Chorus

Time cures everything

in the end, time cures everything

When the dreams that we need

Are the hardest to believe.

In the end, time will cure

Everything.

Song Notes: This song was first recorded in early December 2005,  just John and his guitar. It is a wonderful thing to watch a song change into the piece that is on our CD. The song reflects not only what John went through, but also how everyone around him felt through it all. An uplifting inspirational song that hopefully can make life just a little bit easier for anyone going through difficult times.

Everyone Should Know

Can you think of a place
where your heart would be embraced
If you could choose, differently?

Would you be by the sea
Drowning in uncertainty
Sink or swim it's up to you
If you only knew.

When the chance came if you just knew
When the chance came if you only knew
Everyone should know

On a lonely day you're wandering through the rain
Hoping things will happen for you
If you only knew

When the chance came if you just knew
When the chance came if you only knew
Everyone should know

Everyone should know
Everyone should know
Everyone should know

Would you be by the sea
Drifting in uncertainty
finding who you want to be
If you only knew
If you only knew
If you only knew

When the chance came
When the chance came
When the chance came

Song Notes: Some of these lyrics in one form or another and the theme for the song have been floating around Jeff's hard drive for a few years. The meaning of this song is simple. Have you ever asked yourself, what if I did this instead of doing that? What would life be like if you chose a different path than the one you are on now.

Only You Can Make Me Cry

Sometimes I don't realize
there's more to this life
than having what everyone else does

It's you that opened up my eyes
to help me understand
what's important is love

Maybe it's your innocence
or the fact that I see myself
in those curious eyes

maybe it's coincidence
am I biased to feel
such joy such love such pride

Only you
can make me cry
by just a smile or a sound or a touch
Only you
one look in your eyes
can make me feel I have so much

Travel down the road of life
you may have some regrets
just be proud of what you've done

Listen to the words I say
don't ever forget
you will always be my little ones

Only you
can make me cry
by just a smile or a sound or a touch
Only you
one look from your eyes
can make me feel I have so much

Maybe it's your innocence
or the fact that I see myself
in those curious eyes

maybe it's coincidence
am I biased to feel
such joy...
such love...
such pride

Song Notes: This one may very well be the oldest of the T&BA originals. The original version of this song was written by John in 1998 and since then has gone through several incarnations. The final one that appears on the CD stays close to the original demo. This song is a simple message from John to his two children John & Jordan.
